Achievements of The Robert Stephenson Trust

The primary achievement of the Trust has been saving 20 South Street and obtaining Grade 2* listed status for the building. This means that there is now a portion of the once world renowned locomotive works, founded in 1823, preserved for the nation.

A second achievement has been the restoration of the buildings to function as a museum and a place where researchers can access a wide variety of books, photographs and drawings for reference purposes.

Thirdly the facilities are now available in part for hire and exhibitions, some very prestigious events having been held there already.
